Cornis, or window box curtain rod cover thing.

1st I measured the width of the curtain rod, then I cut out the side of my long Ikea box to the right height and width.

Then I covered it in batting, 2 layers.

I tried several ways of attaching the batting, hot glue seem to work the best.

Then I repeated the steps with the fabric I liked, I had to sew the fabric together to make a strip long enough to cover the box.

Voila, super cheap, super cute!

Pinterest Project - Drawer Organizer

This project was spread out over far to many weeks..but its finally done!

Step 1: make a plan, then throw it out the window!

Step 2: Clean out the pantry

Step 3: Use all the tape in the house

Step 4: Contact paper anyone?

Step 5: Marvel

Step 6: Place in drawer, only to realize you measured wrong and now have to cut off the end and re tape.

Tonights sewing project 1

Please lord no!!! Please just be a quick tummy bug, NOT the flu. My poor Ray Ray always gets the sickness, always, breaks my heart, even worse we have Maddy this year and he hasnt been able to get a flu shot.  Prayers and Tylenol at the Payne house today!

Circus

last night we went to the circus, for maybe the third time or fourth time I don't know, but every time it gets more and more exciting. someone could most definitely die it's a cut rate circus but we love it all the same. It always falls on my dad's birthday weekend, and I'm pretty sure he thinks it's the best birthday present ever.

The Playroom

Starting with a blank canvas sounds fun, like you can create anything in the world...as it turns out its quite intimidating.  I went back and forth on so many ideas for this room, and the color schemes...oh my, but one day I was browsing the internet (ikea.com, my sanctuary) and creating an olioboard, I had a few items from the kids department pulled up and Raider walked in, "wow mom, a circus tent!" it hit me, like a lightning bolt, I was going at this all wrong, its not MY playroom, its HIS, and why shouldn't he have all the input?!  Well 20 minutes later, one well designed olioboard by my 5 year old, and a $200 shopping trip to Ikea, it was done and done.  I love it, but more importantly HE loves it, and that my friends is all I wanted in a playroom.

I love labels, if I had time I would but tags on every bin, but alas I do not. A place for everything and everything in its place doesn't always make sense to a 5 yr old, so it never goes in the right bin :S

I used Chalkboard Contact Paper, and chalkboard markers to use for his "menu"

Cash register and food

Madden's side (4mo), baby books and baby toys..well they are supposed to be for his baby toys but again, i'm just glad things get put away at all!

Raider's side, full of his books, his toys and of course his helmet.

This is Raider's personal artwork, he blows me away.  The one on the left is his puppy (the ever so popular blanket rattle germ catcher) and the one on the right is a dinosaur complete with giant jagged teeth which are a little hard to see here.

All in all, this was a fun project and not to time consuming, easy to assemble and relatively cheap!  I plan to add a bench cushion and 2 homemade bean bag chairs, but that is another project and another post ;)

New house, new baby, new city.  Our lives have been crazy this past year, everything good happening at once, it was hectic and demanding both physically and mentally.  We are here, we are together and no matter where the world takes us or what it throws at us, we are a house built upon a rock.
